“I was afraid going from volunteer to coordinator. It changed my life and perception of being a leader. The van ride was hilarious and our first reflection was amazing. I have so many new friends. We were literally a crazy family for a week. They all pitched in. They even wanted to learn about each other and where people came from. We shared stories all week. I love ASB and that’s all I can say!”

“I don’t even know where to begin. The trip was amazing. The people are amazing. We made such a difference to people who really need it.”
-Molly Uppenkamp, Volunteer on Palm Beach, FL
“Our overall experience was very positive. ASB provides the kinds of opportunities that you’d never be able to get anywhere else. When else could I get to sit in on a pentecostal service in a tin church in Peggs, Oklahoma? You meet these people who live very differntly than you, but who still have stories to tell and are so easy to relate to. ASB definitely makes a difference both in the students’ and locals’ lives. We also went to a pie auction and met the Chief of Cherokee Nation. So Cool.”
-Kasia Pilat, Coordinator for Tahlequah, OK
“My group was so awesome. I still can’t get over how great they are. Even when it rained, it felt like it was sunny with this group.
They loved the work they did, there were no clicks, everyone worked together, and we had van shuffles so we could spend time with everyone. When I tell people about the trip, the conversation usually drifts to sunburns and bug bites. Whoever I’m talking to can’t help but ask, ‘That was supposed to be fun?’ And all I can say is ‘YES!’ It was more than fun, it was incredible. 15 strangers can come together, and in just 5 days, they do great work and become close friends.”
