As if you’re not already excited enough about BU ASB, here’s another reason: we’ve got another new site!
We’re going to Perryville, Arkansas to work with Heifer International on their Alternative Spring Breaks program! On this exciting new trip, volunteers will work with an organization that is actively working to end world hunger and poverty while providing sustainable resources and opportunities to communities in need. According to Heifer’s website, “service activities may include gardening, composting, working with livestock and helping with general farm chores such as barn and fence maintenance. The service help the ranch remain an active Heifer International community where visitors can learn more about working to end world hunger and poverty while caring for the earth.”
Just like our other new trip to Crossville, TN, this trip emphasizes an educational approach to service, with hands-on projects and activities that will empower volunteers to take an active role in their own communities. Because of the awesome educational aspects of these trips, we’ve added them to our new issue area, Experiential Learning! Heifer could also be considered an Environment or Hunger trip, due to its sustainable-living focus and goals of eliminating world hunger.
Hopefully everyone is as pumped up for this trip as we are – it’s going to be a great new venture for the program. In the mean time, don’t forget to check our our Applications tab for ways to become involved in ASB. Email us with any questions, or feel free to stop by the CSC.
‘Til next time!
